Saturday Group Runs

Our Saturday runs start from Olga's Cup and Saucer, 103 Point Street, most Saturdays.  The first Saturday of the month, we will start from a different location.  The runs will start at 8:15am.   Also, just in case it snows sometime this winter, our snow cancellation policy for the Saturday runs is to go by Providence parking ban—if there is a parking ban in effect, the run is cancelled. But in any event, club members should always use their own best judgment with regard to both driving and running conditions in inclement weather.

This week, we're starting from Olga's Cup and Saucer.  Speeds and distances vary, so don't worry that you're "too slow" or not able to run too far yet.  There's usually someone for everyone to run with.

Indoor Track Workouts
Brown Olney-Margolies Athletic Center (OMAC)
On the Brown campus near the intersection of Hope and Bowen

Indoor track practice:   Brown's varsity teams have reserved the indoor track from 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.  Therefore, we will offer RMHP club practices for the month of February at the following times:

Monday and Thursday mornings
- start jogging and stretching at 7:30; be ready to run at 8:00.  Be finished by 8:45.

Wednesday evenings - start jogging and stretching at 5:45; be ready to run at 6:15.  Be finished by 7:00.

In addition, if these days/times don't work for you and you are available during the day (mid morning - mid afternoon), contact Bob (401-294-9946) to arrange mutually convenient times. In case of inclement weather, phone  863-3111 to see if Brown is open.

To use the Brown indoor track you have to purchase  a membership pass if you do not already have one thru an affiliation with Brown. A  3 month pass for $175  will suffice for most club members. For those of us 55+ years of age the cost is $150. This includes the use of all athletic facilities  when not in use by the Brown varsity teams. There is also a plan for daily use at $7.00 and $10.00/day. Information is available at www.brown.edu/Athletics/Recsports/membership.html

NEW MEMBERS: If you have never done a track workout before, don't be intimidated! We all have to start somewhere. We break up into different groups, based on ability and current fitness level. There is a group for everyone, and it really helps to improve your overall fitness.
